Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi on Monday reached a plea bargain, admitting to a misdemeanor charge of false imprisonment. Battery and domestic violence charges were dropped.
The sheriff was accused of bruising the arm of his wife, Venezuelan actress Eliana Lopez. Lopez issued a statement saying she is grateful for the settlement and looks forward to getting her life back to normal.
Mirkarimi must complete 52 weeks of counseling and 100 hours of community service.
