West Hollywood arson suspect arrested for attempted murder

WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif.

A fire was reported on March 4 on the 1400 block of N. Sweetzer Ave. about 2 a.m. Two apartments were ablaze and about 50 people were evacuated. Fire damage to the buildings was estimated at $300,000.

L.A. County Fire Dept. investigators determined the fire was suspicious. A suspect was identified. The suspect had allegedly broken a window and thrown a burning object and a container of charcoal-lighter fluid into a living room. The occupant escaped and identified her ex-roommate as a possible suspect.

Sheriff's deputies received a tip Monday that the suspect was at an area business, according to the department.

Samantha Scarano, 25, was arrested without incident. She was booked for attempted murder and was held on $1.25 million bail.
