Peter Facinelli and Jennie Garth say cheating rumors that were posted online after their breakup announcement are "untrue" and "hurtful" to them and their three children.
The "Twilight Saga" and "Nurse Jackie" actor and his wife, known for her roles as Kelly on "Beverly Hills, 90210" and its reboot, announced on Tuesday that they decided to end their 11-year marriage, without specifying why. "Blind items" and gossip reports about alleged infidelity were posted hours later.
"There are rumors out there which are completely untrue and hurtful to our family," Facinelli, 38, and Garth, 39, said in a statement posted on People magazine's website on Wednesday, March, 14, and confirmed by the actor's spokesperson. "We just want to make it very clear - there are no third parties involved."
The two have been together since 1996, when they met on the set of a made-for-TV movie called "An Unfinished Affair," and wed in 2001. They have three children - 14-year-old Luca, 9-year-old Lola and 5-year-old Fiona.
Facinelli is likely best known for his role as Dr. Carlisle Cullen in the "Twilight Saga" series. He brought Garth to the Los Angeles premiere of the third film, "Eclipse," in June 2010 (see video). He appeared at the premiere of the fourth movie, "Breaking Dawn - Part 1" in June 2011 alone (see video).
The actor plays Dr. Fitch Cooper on the Showtime series "Nurse Jackie" and has appeared on the shows "Damages" and "Six Feet Under" and portrayed a macho high school senior in the 1998 cult comedy movie "Can't Hardly Wait."
Garth played Kelly Taylor on the hit series "Beverly Hills, 90210" from 1990 to 2000. She later reprised the role in the spin-off series "90210" for two seasons. She also appeared opposite Amanda Bynes in the series "What I Like About You" and competed on season 5 of "Dancing With The Stars" in 2007. She was partnered with Derek Hough and finished in fourth place.
Facinelli will next appear on screen in "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2," which hits theatres on November 16.
