Elle MacPherson, dubbed "The Body" during the height of her career as a supermodel, is seen in a new photo wearing a white, string bikini, which was taken during what has been dubbed her first official swimsuit photo shoot in six years.
The image of the 47-year-old Australian was published by People magazine on Thursday, March 15, two days after the premiere of her new NBC reality show, "Fashion Star." The episode earned relatively low ratings for its 9:30 pm. time slot - a 1.6 among people aged 18 to 49, with 4.55 million viewers overall.
MacPherson graced the cover of Sports Illustrated's Swimsuit issue five times throughout her career, the last being in 2006, when she donned a similar white, string bikini similar to the one she is wearing in her new photo.
She recently appeared on Howard Stern's Sirius XM radio show and had an awkward exchange with the shock jock during the interview, in which called him "absolutely Jewish" after he asked her about a racy photo of herself that she keeps in her bedroom. She and ex-boyfriend Arpad Busson share custody of sons Flynn, 14, and Cy, 9.
"Why is that Jewish?" Stern asked.
"Because you're being overprotective. You sound like a nagging mother," she responded, and went on to diss Stern, whose parents are Jewish, over his looks.
The supermodel said during her interview that she has dated Jewish men.
She later came under fire from several Twitter users.
One person, Joshua Gross, Tweeted: "@sternshow wow @ellemacpherson is anti Semitic as hitler. Boycott #fashionstar on #NBC."
"Wow, I love Howard ... We have fun together .. He's smart funny sexy and cool," MacPherson Tweeted, adding: "Maybe just a little thrown by some of his questions."
Other Twitter users took personal swipes.
"@ellemacpherson Ur one to criticize Howard's looks! Take a look in the mirror, it ain't the 80s anymore! It's 2012 and ur an old beat hag," Tweeted user Jack El-Hashayshi.
"Love Howard," the supermodel repeated. "Cool smart sexy .. Me ? I'm Just a woman close to 50 who has had an extraordinary life. Hag maybe."
Stern asked MacPherson about her sex life, grooming habits, drug use - which she confirmed but did not detail, bra cup size - 34C - and also complimented MacPherson about her looks.
"I certainly don't still have the body I did when I was 20, but to me, it's more about, I love the fact that I'm still strong. you know, I can surf, I can ski, I can hike. I've been pregnant twice so there's huge transformation there. Things change as you get older."
Stern asked her if she had stretch marks. She said: "I don't think I do, no."
She added she has "tried a bit of everything" when it comes to cosmetic surgery and that currently, her face is "as natural as you could get."
"I feel much better in my skin today than I've ever felt in my life," she said.
MacPherson is the executive producer and host of "Fashion Star," a reality competition show that features Jessica Simpson, Nicole Richie and John Varvatos as judges. MacPherson previously presented "Britain & Ireland's Next Top Model" and starred on Ashton Kutcher's short-lived show "The Beautiful Life."
