OTRC: 'Grimm' renewed for second season by NBC

NBC has renewed their popular fantasy fairy tale mystery series "Grimm" for a second season, the network confirmed to OnTheRedCarpet.com on March 16.

The drama series follows Portland, Oregon police detective Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli) whose life gets complicated when he inherits the ability to see supernatural creatures as a descendent of the Grimms, who are charged with the duty of keeping the balance between humans and the supernatural world.

The series also stars Bitsie Tulloch as Burkhardt's longtime girlfriend Juliette, Russell Hornsby as his partner Hank, Sasha Roiz as Police Captain Sean Renard and Silas Weir Mitchell as Eddie, the detective's insider to the supernatural world.

According to Deadline, the series is the first of the early pickups expected from NBC. Additional renewals are expected to be announced next week.

"Grimm" was created by David Greenwalt, Jim Kouf and Stephen Carpenter. It is produced by Universal TV, Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner's production company, Hazy Mills Prods.

The series made its debut on October 28, 2011 and airs on Fridays at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
