A Newport Beach home robbery was foiled Friday when a resident called police while burglars were inside the home.

A resident at home on the 700 block of Cameo Highlands Drive called police at about 11:50 a.m. Friday when he heard noises coming from the back of the residence. The resident surprised two suspects inside when he yelled out to them.

The two suspects fled the residence and drove away in a black vehicle. The resident called 911 and described the vehicle and the suspects to police.

Newport Beach police officers saw the vehicle traveling westbound on East Coast Highway at Iris Avenue and pulled the vehicle over. The subsequent investigation led officers to arrest the two suspects -- identified as 32-year-old Taveres O'Shawn Spriggs of Lomita and 22-year-old Harry Lee Gradney III of Houston, Texas -- on suspicion of residential burglary.
