Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino wants to clarify why he's really taking it easy.
Mike Sorrentino, known as "The Situation" on the hit MTV show "Jersey Shore," is recuperating at an "undisclosed location," the reality star's rep confirmed to OnTheRedCarpet.com on Tuesday. On Wednesday, March 21, Sorrentino's official website featured a message about his actual "situation."
"I want to set the record straight," Sorrentino was quoted as saying. "I have voluntarily taken steps to get control of a prescription medication problem I had due to exhaustion. I have spent the past several weeks getting treatment for this problem and recuperating from my work and appearance schedule. I appreciate my fans support and love you guys."
Also on Wednesday, the self-proclaimed "guido" Tweeted more messages such as: "don't believe everything you read or hear," and "Do NOT Believe Everything You Hear, Especially from TMZ." The reality star's rep added that they would not confirm TMZ's report that the reality star was in rehab for substance abuse.
The website on Wednesday reported that Sorrentino" was "undergoing rehab at the famous Cirque Lodge in Utah" and that his treatment was for "prescription meds."
It was confirmed earlier this week that "Jersey Shore" is set to return for a sixth season with all of the cast members, including Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, who is pregnant with her first child. The new season will film in the show's original location of Seaside Heights, New Jersey.
Polizzi announced her pregnancy on March 7. She is also engaged to the baby's father, boyfriend Jionni LaValle.
"Jersey Shore," which depicts the lives of party-loving, self-proclaimed "Guidos and Guidettes" and is one of the top-rated cable programs, just ended its fifth season. Polizzi is filming a spin-off show with cast member Jenni "JWoww" Farley.
The premiere dates for the sixth season of "Jersey Shore" and Polizzi and Farley's spin-off have not been announced. "Jersey Shore" star Paul "Pauly D" Delvecchio also headlines a new show called "The Pauly D Project." It debuts on MTV on March 29.
