GLAAD named the winners in 26 of the 35 media categories for the 23rd annual GLAAD Media Awards on Saturday.

The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation announced winners at a ceremony in New York on March 24 at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square. Additional awards will be presented in ceremonies in Los Angeles on April 21 and in San Francisco on June 2.

Attendees at the event included "Glee" stars Naya Rivera and Cory Monteith, who hosted the event, Broadway legend Bernadette Peters, John Stamos, Harvey Weinstein, Dakota Fanning, Megan Hilty, Padma Lakshmi, Vinny Guadagnino, Johnny Weir and Wendy Williams.

Winners included Lady Gaga's album "Born This Way" and Reality TV series "Dancing With The Stars." There were also two special awards given out at the Awards Show - The Vito Russo Award and a Special Recognition Award.

The Vito Russo Award was presented by Bernadette Peters and John Stamos to producers Neil Meron and Craig Zadan in recognition of their commitment to including LGBT images and storylines in their work. The Special Recognition Award was presented by Harvey Weinsten to Katy Butler, an openly gay 17-year-old anti-bullying advocate who launched a Change.org campaign to change the "R" rating of the documentary "Bully."

In January, GLAAD announced 116 nominees in the English-language categories and 35 nominees in Spanish-language categories.

The awards recognize and honor media for their "fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and the issues that affect their lives," according to the advocacy group's website.
