Political-embezzlement suspect Kinde Durkee to enter plea

SACRAMENTO

The U.S. Attorney's Office accuses Kinde Durkee of looting the campaign war chests of U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) and at least 50 other office-holders over a 10-year period, totaling more than $7 million. Durkee already faces state charges.

Her attorney says Durkee, who heads Durkee and Associates in Burbank, is scheduled to appear at a hearing Friday in Sacramento.

The political embezzlement case is the largest in California history.

Durkee is accused of transferring hundreds of thousands of dollars among the more than 700 bank accounts she controlled to pay for everything from visits to Disneyland to her mother's care in a seniors' home.
