Jaleel White is responding to allegations made by his ex-girlfriend, Bridget Hardy, who claimed the former "Family Matters" star and "Dancing With The Stars" season 14 contestant verbally and physically abused her.
Hardy, who is the mother of White's 2-year-old daughter Samaya, spoke to Star magazine earlier this week and claimed, according to Radar, that White hit her "across the chest area" after she confronted him about cheating in May 2010.
"He pushed me into the toilet and it broke," she added. She also said white was "verbally and emotionally" abusive.
"When you're doing well in life, it's par for the course certain individuals will try and knock you down," White told People magazine on March 29, responding to Hardy's claims. "When the individual is also the mother of your only child it is particularly hurtful."
The 35-year-old actor also said Hardy's claims were originally made in a "malicious police report" filed during a custody dispute over their child. No charges were ever filed against White and the actor was not questioned by police.
"The allegations made against me back in 2010 have suspiciously resurfaced in time to coincide with my new show on Syfy and 'Dancing With The Stars'", White added. "Bridget Hardy has consistently shown a knack for timing throughout our child custody disputes."
He continued, "My only hope is that when my daughter Googles her parents one day in her future, she sees that her father acted with class and dignity when pressed to the fire."
White performed well during the second week of "Dancing With The Stars," scoring a 22 out of 30 for his Jive with Kym Johnson. Though not the leader of the pack, White managed to stay out of jeopardy during the elimination episode on March 28 which Spoiler Alert! saw tennis legend Martina Navratilova sent home.
