OTRC: Adam Sandler, 'Jack and Jill,' sweep 2012 Razzies - list of winners

Katie Holmes and Adam Sandler talk to OnTheRedCarpet.com about 'Jack and Jill.'

It happened on April 1, but this was no joke - Adam Sandler's comedy film "Jack and Jill" won all 10 categories at the 2012 Razzie Awards, including Worst Picture, setting a new record for the annual ceremony, which "Dis-Honors" the most terrible movies of the year.

Sandler won Worst Actor and Worst Actress for his double performances as a man and his abrasive sister, who causes hijinks when she visits him and his wife, played by Katie Holmes. Al Pacino, who portrays himself, won Worst Supporting Actor. Sandler's longtime friend David Spade, who also dresses in drag to play a woman named Monica in the movie, won Worst Supporting Actress.

The "Entire Cast of 'Jack and Jill'" was named as the Worst Screen Ensemble of 2011 and the movie's director, Dennis Dugan, was also given a Razzie "Dis-Honor" for Worst Director for helming for "Jack and Jill" and another 2011 Sandler comedy - "Just Go With It."

Both films were co-produced by Sandler's company and received bad reviews from most top critics. "Jack and Jill" flopped at the domestic box office but made a profit of almost $70 million thanks to worldwide sales. "Just Go With It" did well at home and overseas, earning almost $215 million worldwide and making a profit of almost $135 million.

The Razzie Awards honor the worst achievements in films to contrast the Academy Awards. Sandler doubled Eddie Murphy's record of five for most nominations by a person in one year.

Sandler retains a loyal fanbase thanks to cult films such as "Happy Gillmore" and "Billy Madison," has not commented about his Razzies sweep. At the 2012 People's Choice Awards, he won his Best Comedic Movie Actor Award, marking his sixth win at the annual ceremony.

During his acceptance speech, he jokingly thanked his former public school teachers for helping and inspiring him to achieve his "dream of making movies that critics all over the planet despise with unreasonable fury but that you, the people, seem to enjoy."
