Vergara's musical guest for her episode of "Saturday Night Live" also happens to be the world's biggest boy band right now, UK pop group One Direction.

The 39-year-old actress sharpens her comedic skills on the set of "Modern Family" and judging from the promotional videos for her episode, will be taking full advantage of her sex-symbol image and Colombian accent.

Vergara's on-screen "Modern Family" son Rico Rodriguez only had one worry about his co-star's appearance on the live comedy show.

"I don't think she knows how to read a teleprompter!" Rodriguez told E! News. "But that's OK because she's Sofia. She doesn't even have to say anything to keep people entertained."

Vergara landed at the top of Ask Men's list of the "Most Desirable" women of 2012. The actress, who plays Ed O'Neill's bombshell Colombian wife on the ABC comedy series "Modern Family," has said in the past that she loves being a sex symbol and has showcased her trim and curvy swimsuit body in Diet Pepsi commercials and in bikini vacation photos on her own Twitter page. Vergara has in the past also been featured on Maxim magazine's "Hot 100" list and has also been named one of People magazine's "Most Beautiful" people. The actress told OnTheRedCarpet.com in December that chose comedy acting because she "never wanted to be taken seriously."

However, Vergara has been honored for her television work. She was nominated for two Emmys and two Golden Globes for her role as the second, younger wife of extended family patriarch Jay Pritchett, played by Ed O'Neill, and mother of Manny Delgado, played by Rico Rodriguez, on "Modern Family." The ABC comedy series has won two Emmys for Outstanding Comedy Series.

'Modern Family' has been the best thing that has ever happened to me, professionally," Vergara told OnTheRedCarpet.com. "I've had the career that I never, ever, even dreamed about, even though it was hard because of my accent and because of the way I look. I really, really have to be thankful."
