Sofia Vergara had her debut as a "Saturday Night Live" host on April 7 and the "Modern Family" star flexed her comedy muscle by lampooning her accent in the monologue and taking on impressions like one of Fran Drescher.
Vergara tried her hand at Drescher's signature nasal Queens accent on the recurring skit " Bein' Quirky with Zooey Deschanel." The actress nailed the comedian's laugh with ease.
Vergara used her accent to her advantage during the "The Manuel Ortiz Talk Show," another recurring sketch that features Hispanic characters in dramatic "Maury Povich Show" situations with cheating accusations and reunions between children and the parents who gave them up for adoption.
New featured player Kate McKinnon made her debut on the show mimicking Penelope Cruz in a mock Pantene commercial shoot with Vergara and playing Bravo personality Tabatha Coffey in a sketch making fun of the network's late night talk show "Watch What Happens: Live."
Vergara also got to poke fun at the box office hit "The Hunger Games" by playing a news correspondent whose look seemed to be inspired by Elizabeth Banks' character Effie Trinket. In the skit, Vergara's character keeps revealing the tributes hiding spots, accidentally getting them killed off one by one until she meets up with Katniss Everdeen.
Vergara's musical guest for her episode of "Saturday Night Live" also happens to be the world's biggest boy band right now, UK pop group One Direction.
