Virginia Navy jet crash residents to receive compensation

April 9, 2012 12:00:00 AM PDT
The residents involved in the Navy jet plane crash at a Virginia Beach apartment building last week will get compensation checks as early as Monday.

The Navy says it met with residents yesterday and would make funds available to residents who completed claims. Initial payments will begin at $2,300 for each resident. Residents with families will receive more.

Dozens of apartments were destroyed Friday when the F/A-18 Hornet crashed into the complex. No one died.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
