Barack Obama was asked in a hard-hitting interview with The Atlantic whether he preferred rapper Jay-Z or Kanye West.
Obama said, "Jay-Z," which wasn't too surprising as he once called West a "jackass" and first lady Michelle Obama recently collaborated with Jay-Z's wife Beyonce Knowles for her campaign against childhood obesity.
But the president told the Atlantic, "I like Kanye. He's a Chicago guy. Smart. He's very talented."
When the reporter asked about the President's previous comment, Obama clarified with a wink, "He is a jackass. But he's talented."
Meanwhile, Beyonce wrote an open letter on her website thanking Michelle Obama and calling her "the ultimate example of a truly strong African American woman."
"She is a caring mother, she's a loving wife, while at the same time, she is the FIRST LADY!!!!," Beyonce wrote. "No matter the pressure, and the stress of being under the microscope - she's humble, loving and sincere. She builds and nurtures her family, while also looking out for so many millions in so many ways. Michelle, thank you so much for every single thing that you do for us - I am proud to have my daughter grow up in a world where she has people like you to look up to."
West recently got flack from PETA and the Theraflu company over his new single "Theraflu." The rapper, who is rumored to be dating Kim Kardashian, has yet to address Obama's comments.
