Ventura resident locks burglary suspect in garage

VENTURA, Calif.

At about 3 a.m. on Sunday, Ventura police officers were alerted to a burglary at 1300 Saratoga Avenue. Investigators said the burglar had snuck into an unlocked, detached garage and was in the middle of stealing property when an alert citizen noticed this and contacted police.

The suspect fled the area before officers arrived, but he returned a few hours later to apparently finish what he started. At this time, the owner of the garage realized he hadn't locked his garage and was about to place a lock on the exterior when he heard noises, indicating someone was inside.

He quickly locked the garage, trapping the suspect inside until police arrived again.

The suspect, identified by authorities as 22-year-old Christopher Lindsey from Ventura, was taken into custody and booked into the Ventura County Jail for burglary.
