State prison inmate accidently set free by Los Angeles officials

LOS ANGELES

Larry Howard, 21, was serving a two-year sentence for first-degree burglary at Wasco State Prison.

Howard was being held in a county jail until scheduled court proceedings in Los Angeles, but the sheriff's department accidentally let him go on Tuesday, despite an active hold in place by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

Investigators are treating Howard's release as an escape. Anyone with information about Howard's whereabouts was asked to call 911.
