Isolated showers hit early in the day in Ventura County, including Camarillo and Oxnard. However, the brunt of the spring storm did not arrive until late in the evening.
A half-inch to an inch of rain was expected to fall in most areas, with an inch-and-a-half possible in the mountains, according to the National Weather Service. There was also a chance of isolated thunderstorms.
Showers were expected to last through Thursday morning, possibly clearing up by 9 a.m.
The wet spring is making up for our drier-than-normal winter. The seasonal rain total since last July is more than a half-foot below normal.Earlier in the day, the impending rain storm did not deter some Ventura residents from taking a stroll along the beach.
"We love rain, we love the smell, we love the moisture it gives the Earth," said Carolyn Stewart of Ventura.
