Martin Lawrence and his second wife, Shamicka Gibbs, plan to end their almost 2-year marriage and say the decision was mutual.
The 47-year-old comedian and actor and Gibbs, 36, wed in Beverly Hills, California in July 2010. They have two daughters together - Amara and Iyanna, while Lawrence has another teenage daughter with his first wife. While his marriage to Gibbs was short-lived, the two were together for 15 years prior to tying the knot.
Lawrence and his wife "have decided to divorce," the funnyman's spokesperson told OnTheRedCarpet.com in a statement. "The couple has made the joint decision to part ways. Out of love and respect for one another we will continue to remain friends and raise our two beautiful daughters together."
It is unclear if either Lawrence or his wife filed divorce papers. His spokesperson had no immediate comment.
Lawrence is known for his roles in movies such as "Bad Boys" and "Big Momma's House" as well as for his long-running 1990s sitcom "Martin," which still runs in syndication. He performs standup comedy around the country and recently filmed a CBS comedy pilot that also stars John Amos, Ethan Suplee, Sydney Park and P.J. Byrne.
