Puppy mill bust: 33 dogs rescued in Ontario

ONTARIO, Calif.

The dogs were found Wednesday in a barn in the 400 block of Maple Street. The dogs were allegedly standing in their own feces and urine, and they didn't have any water.

There were Shih Tzus, Yorkshire terriers, Pekingese, poodles, terrier mixes, basset hounds, Chihuahuas and a husky. Animal control officials say there may be five pregnant females in the bunch.

Luis Reynoso, 45, and Flor Sanchez, 42, will be charged with misdemeanor animal cruelty.

According to investigators, the puppies were sold for $100 apiece. The sales were their primary source of income.

Authorities say 27 of the 33 dogs are at the Inland Valley Humane Society and SPCA, and they are all up for adoption.
