Ryan O'Neal has revealed that he has delayed the treatment of his three types of cancer, in order to publish his memoir.

"I'm not done and I'm not that beaten down," O'Neal told Access Hollywood Live, in an interview set to air on Wednesday, May 2. "Look, I have three cancers at the moment - on my face, in my prostate and I have a... chronic leukemia."

The actor's longtime partner Farrah Fawcett died of anal cancer at age 62 nearly three years ago. The 70-year-old actor decided to put-off treatment of the cancer for the release of his memoir about his life with the "Charlie's Angels" actress entitled, "Both of Us: My Life with Farrah," which hit shelves on May 1.

"The book cried out for both of us, it cried out to be sold and so I decided to do that first and then I'll address my cancers," O'Neal said.

O'Neal announced on April 13 that he was diagnosed with prostate cancer.

The original statement released by the actor said he was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer. However, on April 16, the actor's spokesperson clarified that he was actually diagnosed with stage 2. O'Neal also revealed that he also has skin cancer - a melanoma on his nose.

In his statement to the press, O'Neal said, "Although I was shocked and stunned by the news, I feel fortunate that it was detected early and according to my extraordinary team of doctors the prognosis is positive for a full recovery."

O'Neal plans to start treatment on May 10, beginning with cryopathy, a treatment where doctors attempt to freeze the cancer to keep it from spreading.

"I don't [care as much about my life as I used to], frankly," O'Neal told Access Hollywood. "I've lived a nice long life and I have a plan, starting on May 10, I'm going to freeze my prostate. If you thought I was cold before, you wait... Hopefully it freezes and then drops off, but I don't know exactly what happens."

Fawcett and Ryan O'Neal met in 1979 - 12 years after his divorce from his daughter Tatum O'Neal's mother. The pair dated until 1998 and reconnected in 2001, when O'Neal was diagnosed with myelogenous leukemia.

The "Love Story" actor has four grown children from three different relationships - Tatum and Griffin, 47, from his first marriage to Joanna Moore, Patrick, 43, from his second marriage to actress Leigh Taylor-Young and Redmond, 27, who was his only child with Fawcett.

Redmond O'Neal returned to jail in September and had his probation revoked after he admitted that he used methamphetamine while serving time in a rehab facility.

O'Neal admitted on the "Today" show that he might have been a bad parent, but said his adult children are now old enough to take care of themselves. He recalled a moment when a 6-year-old Redmond came into his and Fawcett's bedroom with a kitchen knife and threatened to stab himself if they didn't stop fighting.

"He couldn't stand it," O'Neal told Matt Lauer. "It stopped us, I must say. We put a stop to that. And we moved the knives up higher, harder to reach."
