Connecticut Senate passes medical marijuana bill

HARTFORD, Conn.

State senators voted 21-to-13 in favor of the law after a 10-hour debate on Saturday. The governor is expected to sign the legislation into law.

Connecticut's bill is structured differently than California's medical marijuana laws.

In Connecticut, only specific diseases can be treated with marijuana, and the law explains how patients, caregivers and growers will be licensed.
