A 19-year-old man was arrested for shooting a man during an attempted robbery near the Ventura Pier early Sunday morning.

Authorities say Jesse Dominguez and two other male suspects walked up to a 23-year-old man and his friend and demanded money in the 600 block of Harbor Boulevard at about 2:30 a.m. When the men did not comply, Dominguez allegedly shot the 23-year-old in the leg and fled the scene.

Police responded and found Dominguez hiding in the parking lot of the Crowne Plaza. He was booked at Ventura County Jail on attempted robbery and assault with a deadly weapon.

The victim was taken to the Ventura County Medical Center, where he was treated and released.

The two other suspects remain outstanding. Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
