LAUSD graduation requirements change this fall

LOS ANGELES

The LAUSD board voted Tuesday night to implement the changes. Starting with the class of 2016, students will be required to take advanced college prep courses. The graduating class of 2017 will have to earn a "C" or better to pass.

The district also voted to reduce the overall number of required credits to graduate to help the students adapt to the changes.

Superintendent John Deasy said the idea is to give all students a chance to succeed at the college level.
