Famed hair stylist Vidal Sassoon dead at 84, LAPD confirms to AP

LOS ANGELES

An LAPD spokesman said officers went to Sassoon's home Wednesday morning and determined he had died of natural causes. Sassoon's family was present.

Born in London, Sassoon's creative haircuts required little styling. His cuts were an integral part of the look of Mary Quant, the superstar British fashion designer who popularized the miniskirt.

The low-maintenance hair styles also fit right in with the fledgling women's liberation movement.

Sassoon developed a popular namesake line of shampoos and styling products. His slogan was "If you don't look good, we don't look good."
