Television audiences will get another season of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" in the fall.

The final "Law & Order" series still on air was renewed by NBC for a 14th season on May 9, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Although the series has lost viewers over this season when series co-star Christopher Meloni left at the end of season 12, the show is still performing well in the ratings.

The show's lead, Mariska Hargitay, signed a deal in late April to stay on the long-running drama for another season.

"The show this year is awesome and different and has gone into different areas, and I get to play different things; my own story of having a boyfriend after 13 years," she told reporters in April, according to the industry paper. "My character has gone on this unbelievable personal journey that is both reflected in her persona life and the storylines."

Meloni will soon be seen on the upcoming season of "True Blood" as Roman, the Vampire Authority leader. The actor also has a role in the new Superman movie "Man of Steel."

The network also picked up another drama by "Law & Order" creator Dick Wolf called "Chicago Fire." The series will star "Vampire Diaries" actor Taylor Kinney, "House M.D." star Jesse Spencer and more as members of the Chicago Fire Department.
