Revlon Run/Walk participants hit pavement for good cause

LOS ANGELES

The event has been going strong for 19 years. Over that time, tens of millions of dollars have been raised to fund breast and ovarian cancer treatments.

"We will raise a few million dollars today in just Los Angeles alone and over the history of this event we have distributed over $65 million between Los Angeles and New York," said Cathy James of the Entertainment Industry Foundation.

For the sixth time, actress Halle Berry served as the event host. Eyewitness News anchors Michelle Tuzee and Ellen Leyva kicked off the opening ceremonies to a crowd of more than 30,000 participants.

Eyewitness News team members Phillip Palmer and Alysha Del Valle were on hand at the 2-mile water station, talking with runners and walkers who shared their stories about survival and loved ones.
