"Glee" has been renewed for a fourth season and already has some high profile names signed on to guest star.

Former "Sex and the City" star Sarah Jessica Parker will appear on the series next season for at least one episode, Fox announced on May 14. More information about her role will be released at a later date.

Meanwhile, "Almost Famous" and "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" star Kate Hudson has signed on to appear on the musical series in a six-episode arc, according to the network. Details on her character are not currently available.

"Glee" is set to finish up its third season on May 22. Several of the lead actors' characters are set to graduate from high school at the end of the season and a few will return to the show in season 4.

The show will move to the Thursday night 9 p.m. time slot from its current place on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. next season. Fox President Kevin Reilly told reports on May 14 that the show will use "a show-within-a-show" format and bounce back and forth between McKinley High and Rachel, Kurt and Finn in New York, according to TV Line.

It will be Parker's first television role since "Sex and the City" went off the air in 2004. She recently starred in "New Year's Eve," "I Don't Know How She Does It" and has an upcoming role in the film "Lovelace" as feminist activist Gloria Steinem. She replaced Demi Moore in the role.

The film is about Linda Lovelace, who was dubbed the "first erotic superstar" and who rose to fame with the 1972 porn film "Deep Throat."

Hudson was last seen in "Something Borrowed" and "A Little Bit of Heaven." The 33-year-old actress and her fiancé Matthew Bellamy welcomed their son Bingham on July 7, 2011. The actress had her 7-year-old son, Ryder, with ex-husband Chris Robinson of the rock band the Black Crowes. The two divorced in 2007 after almost seven years of marriage.
