Driver crashes car into LA luxury body shop

SOUTH ROBERTSON, LOS ANGELES

The crash happened at Specialty Craft Car in the 1800 block of South La Cienega Boulevard at about 3:30 a.m. A Lincoln Town Car slammed into the glass doors of the building, causing damage to several cars that belonged to celebrities.

The driver, described as a white male in his 30s, fled the scene on foot. A woman who was sitting in the back seat of the car was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition.

The window frame of the door crashed down onto a yellow Ferrari that has a Los Angeles Lakers sticker on the back windshield and another sticker that says "Baller 24" - Kobe Bryant's jersey number. The shop owner couldn't disclose the identity of the car's owner.

A rare, silver TVR Tuscan S also had damage on the passenger's side, and a red Lamborghini's window was cracked. The shop owner said the total damage appears to be about $200,000.

"It's pretty severe. You see the car in half the building, and there are three or four cars that are damaged," said Steve Saghdejian, owner of Specialty Car Craft.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
