Search on for groom suspected of killing bride

BURBANK, Ill.

Police in Burbank, Ill., said Arnoldo Jimenez, 30, and Estrella Carrera, 26, got married at Chicago City Hall on Friday and celebrated at a dinner with family and friends. They were then dropped off at Carrera's suburban home later that night.

Relatives called police the next day when Carrera did not pick up her two children. Police found her dead in her bathtub, wearing the same dress she wore on her wedding day.

Carrera's family received a phone call from Jimenez' sister, who told them he had called her and tearfully said he left his bride bleeding after a "bad fight."

The couple had been dating on and off and had a 2-year-old son. Most of Carrera's family disapproved of her relationship with Jimenez. Police said family members reported incidents of violence while the couple was dating.

Carrera's sister, Jazmin, described Jimenez as "very possessive" and jealous. She said she doesn't understand why her sister married him in what seemed like a rushed ceremony - or why she married him at all.

Since the killing likely took place mere hours after the couple went to Carrera's apartment, the suspect had a day to flee the metropolitan area or even the state, police said.
