The stabbing happened around 2:40 p.m. Wednesday shortly after the victim crashed a white Ford Taurus into a house near Fairview Boulevard and La Brea Avenue.
It is not clear what triggered the stabbing. The victim, who has not been identified, was stabbed in the upper torso and pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect was found hiding in a nearby yard.
Officials said the suspect did not live in the house damaged in the wreck.
