Russell Brand's 14 month marriage to Katy Perry ended in divorce, but the British comedian insisted that he has nothing but love for the pop singer on the "Ellen DeGeneres Show" this week.
"Me and Katy got divorced. I still, love her as a human being. But, sometimes when you're in a relationship I suppose it doesn't work out, does it? But that doesn't mean I regret it or anything," Brand told DeGeneres on an episode which aired on Thursday. "I was very happy to be married with her. She's such a beautiful human being and I just have only love and positivity for her."
Brand filed for divorce on Dec. 30, 2011, citing irreconcilable differences. He and Perry have no children.
"You can't absolutely make everything the way you want it to be in life," Brand continued. "Sometimes thing are just different and then you to just move with that and try and remain in contact with what is beautiful about yourself and each other with any situation. That is still a person I still consider to be beautiful and I have nothing but positivity for her."
The 27-year-old pop singer and 36-year-old comedian and actor reached a divorce settlement in February. The divorce is expected to be finalized in July.
On the episode, Brand also met 8-year-old Sophia and 5-year-old Rosie, the British singing internet sensations who often appear on "The Ellen DeGeneres." Brand congratulated the girls on "escaping from Essex," their mutual hometown.
During Brand's last appearance on DeGeneres' talk show in December, he denied rumors of a divorce and talked about his desire to start a family.
"I really would like one," he told DeGeneres at the time. "I love those little babies in the beginning. They're so lovely at that bit."
The outspoken comedian is known for playing rock star Aldous Snow in "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" and "Get Him To the Greek" and also stars in the new musical film "Rock of Ages" with Tom Cruise.
It was announced earlier in the month that Brand would host the 2012 MTV Movie Awards , which are set to air on Sunday, June 3 from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles. Brand has previously hosted MTV's other famous annual ceremony, the Video Music Awards, in 2008 and 2009.
It was at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards that Brand met Perry. They were married on October 23, 2010 in a traditional Hindu ceremony in Rajasthan, India, where Brand also proposed to the singer.
