Rapper 50 Cent worried fans this week when he shared photos of himself in a hospital bed and complained about an unnamed surgery.
"I'm in the hospital but my gangsta grillz LOST TAPE is done so it will be out on time," 50 Cent Tweeted on Wednesday, referring to a mix tape he collaborated with DJ Drama on, which is due out on May 22. He added later, "I don't want to go into surgery."
Attached to the Twitter posts was a series of particularly dramatic photos, showing a solemn 50 Cent hooked up to an IV, wearing a hospital gown.
50 Cent didn't disclose his ailment, but DJ Drama told XXL magazine that the rapper was suffering from a "stomach virus."
"First they wanted to keep it quiet, but he's not a quiet guy," Drama told XXLmag.com. "He should be cool. It's nothing that serious. We still gonna do our promo run stuff [Thursday]."
50 Cent teased his collaborator on Twitter, posting a photo of himself surrounded by stuffed animals and writing, "Do not do a @djdrama gangsta grillz is all I get. Ain't this a [expletive]. I give 15 tracks you give me this."
50 Cent apparently feels better on Thursday and Tweeted, "I'm feeling better today I think I'm gonna get out of the hospital soon. EMINEM called me last night I love him that's my boy."
50 Cent's rep had no immediate comment on the hospitalization, but the rapper has continued to promote his record, "(Expletive)s Be Schemin," which is a collaboration with Kidd Kidd.
The rapper, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, was shot nine times at point blank range in 2000 and left with multiple injuries from the shooting including a cracked hip, shattered bones and shrapnel in his tongue.
Jackson was raised in Queens, New York by his grandparents after his father ran out and his mother was shot when he was 8-years-old. In November, he placed a large bet on New York Giants and San Francisco 49ers NFC championship and apparently won. At the time, Jackson said he planned to give the money to his grandmother .
