"Good Morning America" is headed to the afternoon with a one-hour extension program titled "Good Afternoon America," set to be anchored by "GMA" reporters Lara Spencer and Josh Elliott, ABC announced on May 21.

The program is set to debut on July 9 and will air from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. "Good Afternoon America" will run for nine weeks and feature celebrities, performances by big name music acts and focus on pop culture, entertainment, health, workplace and consumer reporting.

"It's tremendous that 'GMA' has this opportunity to extend its reach and bring something new to the afternoons," Josh Elliott said in a statement. "It is gratifying to play a role in it, and we genuinely hope our audience will come along for the ride."

Lara Spencer added, "I am beyond excited and honored to be part of this new chapter for the 'Good Morning America' family. 'Good Afternoon America' gives us the opportunity to reach a different audience, and better yet, to spend a little more time with our morning viewers who want to be a part of the conversation and fun we plan on bringing to afternoon TV."

The rest of the "Good Morning America" crew like Robin Roberts, Sam Champion and George Stephanopoulos will reportedly make special appearances.
