Arrest in death of Redondo Beach bar bouncer

REDONDO BEACH, Calif.

Alejandro Avina, 30, was arrested around noon Saturday for suspicion of murder. He was being held on $1 million bail.

Police are still looking for 35-year-old Francisco "Frank" Cobarruvias, who is also wanted in the attack.

The two men are suspected of getting into a fight with a bouncer at Pat's II Cocktails at 1312 S. Pacific Coast Highway early Saturday.

Investigators said the bouncer was escorting the two men out of the bar at closing time, when they knocked him to the ground and stomped on his head.

Avina is scheduled to appear for arraignment in Torrance court Tuesday.

Police said Cobarruvias may be driving an approximately 10-year-old black, four-door BMW 3 Series with chrome rims. Police said they believe Cobarruvias is traveling with his three children, ages 3 to 11.

Anyone with information was asked to call the Redondo Beach Police Department at (310) 379-2477.
