CLAREMONT, Calif.

Authorities say the blaze, which was reported at 3:51 p.m., burned less than 10 acres of medium brush in high, rugged terrain in the Angeles National Forest.

Three helicopter crews and about 120 firefighters responded to the scene and quickly gained the upper hand. The fire, which was burning uphill, did not threaten any homes.
