Charlie Sheen says he was in "total denial" about his self-proclaimed "winning" ways during a 2011 public meltdown, made amid his firing from the CBS show "Two and a Half Men."

The 46-year-old actor made his comments to Rolling Stone magazine in an interview published on its website on Wednesday, June 6. Sheen, whose has battled substance abuse for years, also said he has not given up drinking alcohol.

Sheen was axed from "Two and a Half Men" in March 2011 after he insulted its producers in the press. He continued his rants after his firing on television, radio, online and even on homemade podcasts and coined catchphrases such as "Duh, winning!" and "Tiger Blood." His meltdown followed a rehab stint and months of personal turmoil. He later performed similar rants on stages across the country but received lackluster critiques.

"Clearly, a guy gets fired, his relationships are in the toilet, he's off on some (expletive) tour, there's nothing 'winning' about any of that," Sheen told Rolling Stone. "I mean, how does a guy who's obviously quicksanded, how does he consider any of it a victory? I was in total denial."

The actor has three ex-wives and five children. He has long been known for his partying lifestyle and affection for porn stars. Sheen's rants made him even more popular, especially among adult men.

He was honored with his own Comedy Central Roast and can be seen poking fun at himself in DirecTV and Fiat commercials. Russell Brand made fun of him while hosting the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday. Sheen, who sat in the audience, was seen grinning and giving a thumbs up.

"I've taped a bottle of Hennessy and a gram of coke under your chair," the British comedian said. "In case I start going crazy, just nick it and do a couple of lines. Release the tiger blood hero!"

Sheen told the magazine that he continues to drink alcohol nowadays, adding: "I mean, the (expletive) works. Sorry, but it works. Anyway, I don't see what's wrong with a few drinks. What's your drink? Tequila? Mine's vodka. Straight, because I've always said that ice is for injuries, ha ha."

Sheen also talked about what Rolling Stone called his "foot fetish," saying: "I've not dated girls because of their feet, just the length of certain toes and the shape of where things should be and they're not. Hammertoes are bad. And the second toe being too long? That's bad, too."

The actor has been promoting his new FX sitcom "Anger Management," which is based on the 2003 comedy film. It premieres on June 28 and stars Selma Blair and "Saw" actress Shawnee Smith as Sheen's therapist and ex-wife, respectively.

"I couldn't have the 'Two and a Half' thing be my television legacy. I couldn't have it end on that note so if this is going to be the swan song, then it's got to be a beautiful experience," Sheen said about shooting "Anger Management, in an interview on NBC's "Today" show" in March.

He said at the time that it was "a little cringible" to watch footage of his 2011 rants. In January, he told reporters at the Fox Network Television Critics Association party: "I'm not crazy any more. That was an episode. I think I'm a different person than I was yesterday. Everything is a lot more mellow and focused and much more rooted in reality."

Sheen's second ex-wife, Denise Richards, guest stars as his love interest.

The two have remained friendly in recent years and vacation together with their daughters. Sheen told Rolling Stone he is still attracted to Richards and still wants to have sex with her, but that when they travel together, they sleep in separate rooms.
