Catherine Zeta-Jones recreates 80s in 'Rock of Ages'

LOS ANGELES

"Rock of Ages" allows anyone of a certain age to take a step back in time to an era that has many people saying, "Did I really wear that?"

"I had big hair, and I wore big shoulder pads," Zeta-Jones said. "And we've got photographs to prove it, which is the worst thing."

But for the actress, recreating that 80s look was nothing but fun.

"The costumes were just fantastic," she said. "I don't think I've ever gone on film with everyone agreeing that we all looked terrible."

Zeta-Jones was thrilled to be able to return to her musical theater roots. All it took was one call from director Adam Shankman.

"I didn't have to think much about it," she said.

And that initial conversation just kept getting better. She said she was thrilled to sing a Pat Benatar song, and even more excited to do a duet with actor Russell Brand.

"It was slam dunk for me, it really was," she said.
