Hemet brush fire dying down; crews gain upper hand

Fire crews are gaining an upper hand on a brush fire burning in Hemet, near the Soboba Indian Reservation.

As of Saturday morning, the blaze had charred about 80 acres and was at 50-percent containment. According to the Riverside County Fire Department website, full containment was expected by 8 p.m. and full control was expected by 8 a.m. Sunday.

Seven fire engines, three fire crews and two water tenders were working to kill the fire.

The cause of the blaze was under investigation.
