Chris Rock continues to bring the funny to the "Madagascar" film series with the latest sequel, "Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted."
"Marty is very, for lack of a better word, animated," Rock said in an interview provided by Paramount Pictures about his rambunctious character - a zebra named Marty. "So I get to be really big - there's no such thing as overacting in an animated movie. They just make the movie bigger for you - they just make it fit - you're never too big for the screen, that's what I like about it."
In the film, which was released on Friday, June 8, Marty and his old friends Gloria the hippopotamus, Alex the lion and Melman the giraffe, voiced by Jada Pinkett Smith, Ben Stiller and David Schwimmer, end up in Europe and join a traveling circus.
"Jada, it's so funny that she plays this hippo, because she's so little in real life," Rock said. "But she fills it up. She's perfect in that part - you know what I mean? She's got so much energy in her."
The cast also includes new characters. One newcomer, "Breaking Bad" actor Bryan Cranston, plays a Russian circus tiger named Vitaly. Oscar nominee Jessica Chastain, last seen in movies such as "The Help," stars as his colleague, a jaguar, while "Almost Famous" actress Frances McDormand plays Monaco Animal Control Captain Chantel DuBois.
