Kristen Bell and Broadway star Idina Menzel have been cast in Disney's next animated movie "Frozen," the network confirmed to OnTheRedCarpet.com.
In "Frozen," a kingdom is trapped in eternal winter and young dreamer named Anna (Kristen Bell) joins forces with Kristoff, a daring mountain man, in a journey to find Elsa the Snow Queen (Idina Menzel) and to put an end to the icy spell.
The computer-animated feature will be directed by Chris Buck ("Tarzan," "Surf's Up" and produced by Peter Del Vecho ("Winnie the Pooh," "The Princess and the Frog"). The movie, which is slated for release in November 2013, will feature original songs by Broadway's Robert Lopez ("The Book of Mormon," "Avenue Q") and Kirsten Anderson-Lopez.
Menzel won a Tony Award for her role in "Wicked." She also originated the role of Maureen in the Broadway musical "Rent," where she met her husband, actor Taye Diggs. Menzel also portrayed Rachel Berry's birth mother in "Glee."
The 41-year-old actress reprised her role from "Rent" in the 2005 movie adaptation. She has also appeared in films like "Kissing Jessica Stein" and "Enchanted."
Kristen Bell also has Broadway musical experience, appearing in the musical comedy, "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer." She also played the female lead in a Los Angeles production of the musical "Reefer Madness" and reprised her role in a 2005 film adaptation that aired on the Showtime cable channel.
Bell recently presented the CMT Awards. Bell also performed "Fame" at the 2005 Emmy Award ceremony and sang "One Way or Another" on an episode of "Veronica Mars."
The 31-year-old actress currently stars in the Showtime series, "House of Lies" and has appeared in films like "Forgetting Sarah Marshall," "Couples Retreat," "When in Rome" and "Burlesque."
