LAX Wi-Fi plan grounded by City Council

LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Officials recently offered a contract to a Florida company that would have meant free Wi-Fi for all passengers and employees within the next couple of months.

But the Los Angeles City Council has put the brakes on that plan, saying bids from other companies, including some based in Southern California, should have been considered.

The council has three weeks to either allow the Florida company to provide the Wi-Fi or come up with another plan.
