Arson fires set in park, school vending machines

VENTURA, Calif.

The Ventura City Fire Department responded to multiple calls of nuisance fires between 5:07 a.m. and 5:53 a.m. at a park and two schools, according to the department.

The fires were set in vending machines at Blanche Reynolds Park, Ventura High School and Balboa Middle School.

Damage was estimated at $10,000. Ventura police also responded to the scenes. One engine, one fire investigator, one police investigator and five firefighters were called to the scene.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fires was under investigation.
