Women's fashion: What's hot this summer

June 19, 2012 12:00:00 AM PDT
The days are getting longer, the sun is shining brighter, and as we transition into summer, so must our wardrobe.

The latest issue of Harper's Bazaar has put together a summer fashion checklist filled with must-have items for the season.

Style expert Jessie Artigue helped us break down the hottest trends.

First up, think nautical. For example, one Juicy Couture item pairs navy blue and white stripes with sailor-inspired details.

"The classic shift shape, it keeps the look modern and fresh," said Artigue. "We love the little rope detailing lace-up tie at the front."

Anything floral is a huge must-have, such as one dress from Max Studio, which is perfect for an outdoor wedding or a romantic night out.

Another fun trend is colored denim. The mint-colored skinny jeans from Paige Denim are easy to wear.

"We've got them styled up with a crisp white blouse and some simple accessories, again, to keep it feeling really modern and really fresh and light for the summer," said Artigue.

Throw all three trends into your bag, and you are ready for a weekend getaway. But don't forget to accessorize with a flirty wedge sandal.

Try a statement piece of jewelry to really finish your look. And for the final polishing touch, don't forget your hands and toes. Big trends are bright, punchy oranges and pinks, as well as cool blues and greens.
