Johnny Depp and French actress Vanessa Paradis, the mother of his two children, have called it quits after months of breakup rumors.
A spokesperson for the 49-year-old "Pirates of the Caribbean" and "Lone Ranger" star confirmed the pair's split to OnTheRedCarpet.com on Tuesday, June 19, following a report by Entertainment Tonight, which quoted Depp's rep as saying that he and Paradis, 39, had "amicably separated."
The two have been together since 1998 and are parents to daughter Lily-Rose, 13, and son Jack, 9. In December 2011, People magazine reported that Depp and Paradis have been living separate lives and have not appeared on the red carpet together for over a year. Following subsequent breakup reports, Paradis said on a French talk show in January that the rumor was "false."
People magazine on Tuesday quoted a source close to Depp and Paradis as saying the two "tried for months to save the relationship but have known for weeks that it couldn't be saved."
Depp and Paradis were last pictured together at a celebrity event in 2010. They attended the 63rd Cannes Film Festival in May of that year. He has also brought her to the Oscars several times, including in 2004, when they attended with his mother, Betty Sue Palmer (pictured above).
