Former "Roseanne" actress Laurie Metcalf is going back to the Great White Way.
The actress will star on Broadway in the thriller "The Other Place," according to The Associated Press. Manhattan Theatre Club announced on June 21 that it will produce the play by Sharr White, which will begin previews on December 11 and open at the Samuel J. Friedman Theater on January 10.
Metcalf will play a brilliant researcher whose life changes when she begins to suffer from an unnamed neurological disease.
The actress currently appears in the West End play "Long Day's Journey into Night" in London. Her previous Broadway roles include "Brighton Beach Memoirs" and "November" opposite Nathan Lane.
Metcalf is likely best known for her role as Jackie Harris on the long running sitcom "Roseanne." The actress won three Emmy Awards for the role. She has also appeared on "The Big Bang Theory" and "Desperate Housewives."
Metcalf has also had film roles in "Internal Affairs" and "Uncle Buck" and she won an Obie Award and a Lucille Lortel Award last year for her work on "The Other Place."
In September, Metcalf's husband Matt Roth filed for divorce after more than six years of marriage. Roth, who is also an actor, is requesting joint physical and legal custody of the couple's three children -Will, 17, Donovan, 11 and Mae, 6.
