Katy Perry performs in Hollywood for 'Part of Me' movie premiere

HOLLYWOOD LOS ANGELES

The pop singer was propped up on an elaborate stage in the middle of the street. Shortly before she took that stage, she said she loves connecting with the crowd.

"I love looking people in the eyes and I know some performers aren't necessarily into that, like they get a little bit scared to look at people. But I like going, 'Zing,'" Perry said.

Perry was promoting a diary of sorts that's coming to life on the big screen in 3-D: "Katie Perry: Part of Me." It premiered at Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood on Tuesday.

The invite guest list was a who's who, including Perry's grandmother, who was glamoured out.

So, would Perry like to be a movie star, too?

"I don't know. Maybe. If it's right, if it's appropriate. But just because you can sing doesn't mean you can act. We all know that," she said with a smile.
