"True Blood" will be able to continue to bring a summer of some of the sexiest episodes back to television next year.

The fan favorite television series was renewed for a sixth season by HBO on July 2, according The Hollywood Reporter. The network also renewed Aaron Sorkin's "The Newsroom" for a second season.

"The Newsroom," which aired its second episode on July 1, stars Jeff Daniels as news anchor Will McAvoy. The newsman is usually content to keep his opinions to himself on-camera, but after a spontaneous political outburst, he is put on an "enforced vacation."

When McAvoy returns from the professional fallout to his evening cable show "News Night," he finds that most of his staff has jumped ship for another show and he is forced to work with new team members hired during his absence.

The show debuted with 2.1 million viewers, a few viewers behind the debuts of "Boardwalk Empire" and "Game of Thrones."

"True Blood" meanwhile kicked off its fifth season with 5.2 million, according to The Hollywood Reporter, down 1 million from last year.

Anna Paquin and Steven Moyer star as the show's main on-again-off-again couple, telepath Sookie Stackhouse and vampire Bill Compton. The two are married and real life and it was recently revealed by a co-star that the couple might be expecting twins.
