'Step Up Revolution' actors had good chemistry, director says

LOS ANGELES

They're hoping to win big money for their dance antics in an online contest. The film stars Ryan Guzman, who had never danced, and Kathryn McCormick, who had never acted.

"I've never seen better chemistry between two people because Ryan ended up really looking to Kathryn in the dance and Kathryn ended up really looking to Ryan in acting," said Scott Speer, the film's director, at the premiere Tuesday. "It just bonded these two people in a way that really I don't think you get in a normal movie."

The movie is a big deal for its stars.

"Before I was an actor, I was a professional fighter and I never thought about acting, so life and its curve balls, I love them. I love them," Guzman said.

Making the movie was physically taxing for the cast, something the leading lady loved.

"I might be kind of weird, but I really love bruises and I love being sore and sweating - I love sweating," McCormick said.

"Step Up Revolution" also features a cameo from Eyewitness News anchors Marc Brown and Michelle Tuzee - and yours truly! The film opens July 27.
