LA Fire Department forms task force to analyze response times

LOS ANGELES

The task force is a response to admissions by department officials that they submitted inaccurate information to the Los Angeles City Council last year.

At that time, council members were deciding where to cut the department's budget and re-deploy fire trucks and ambulances.

The task force will include sworn and civilian members of the department along with outside data experts. It will analyze and validate data like response times and develop policies and systems to measure and report the department's activities.

"This Task Force provides an excellent opportunity for the LAFD to refine its process for presenting clear, consistent and easily understood information regarding our response times, as well as establishing measurements and benchmarks for all that we do," said LAFD Chief Brian Cummings in a statement.
